Nothing Happens When I Click 'Let's Go' or 'Install WordPress' (6 posts)

Nothing happens when I click 'Install WordPress.' The site acts like it's loading something, but the page just stays the same and doesn't go anywhere.

The only post I found with this error said to check the wp-config file. I put the correct info in the wp-config file. Everything was copied exactly from my SQL page. I know for sure that the hostname is right because when I changed it to something shorter as an experiment I got an error.

I tried deleting the wp-config file from my server so I could try entering the SQL info manually. When I do this nothing happens when I click 'Let's Go.' It's just the same thing as when clicked 'Install WordPress' from the other page. It acts like something is loading, then stops and never goes anywhere. I never get to the next page.

I'm using a 1&1 Internet Developer's package for hosting. I have PHP 5 running on an Apache server. I'm using MySQL 5.1. The site is yaoiprose.com I have multiple domains hosted on this account. WordPress was installed in the Yaoi Prose directory.

Well, you scared me, so I deleted the WP files. Was it visible because I uploaded with ftp instead of ssh?

Why did you delete it? That is how you install it!

    :-)

Was it visible because I uploaded with ftp instead of ssh?

Yes. Once uploaded, it's visible regardless of how it got there. http://codex.wordpress.org/Installing_WordPress#Famous_5-Minute_Install

"Run the WordPress installation script by accessing wp-admin/install.php in your favorite web browser.

    * If you installed WordPress in the root directory, you should visit: http://example.com/wp-admin/install.php
    * If you installed WordPress in its own subdirectory called blog, for example, you should visit: http://example.com/blog/wp-admin/install.php "

Sorry, I certainly didn't mean to alarm you, I was under the impression you wanted to install WordPress and were ready to Rock & Roll!

Review the install steps again, and see if anything there is helpful.

I put the correct info in the wp-config file. Everything was copied exactly from my SQL page. I know for sure that the hostname is right because when I changed it to something shorter as an experiment I got an error....
...I tried deleting the wp-config file from my server so I could try entering the SQL info manually. When I do this nothing happens when I click 'Let's Go.'

That all seems just a little confusing. Install needs to be run from the browser, of course, and wp-config.php must be present for wordpress to install. It must contain the correct database name, user data and host information to function. Try going through the steps again, making sure wp-config is properly configured, then run the install.php script and take note of any error messages (if any). Maybe you just had an incomplete upload the first time.
