[resolved] Nothing happens when I click "Connect your Facebook account" (13 posts)

    Hello,

I instealled the latest Facebook plugin and succesfully created a Facebook App and entered the App ID and App Secrete on the plugin settings page.

I am trying to setup the Social Publisher feature of the plugin so I can post directly to one of my Facebook pages. When I click the link in "Connect your Facebook account to get started" nothing happens. I believe it is supposed to direct me to a facebook login?? I tried in both IE explorer and chrome and made sure pop-ups are enabled.

    Please help!

Mine is not working, did you do something different or did it just start all of a sudden?

Why is this topic resolved? I've got the same problem!

Seems like this was resolved in another, less aptly named thread:

    http://wordpress.org/support/topic/linking-an-fb-page

    Works for me.

tl;dr It's unintuitive, but make sure that there's a tick next to point 3 of "Open Graph prerequisites" in the "Facebook Timeline" section. To do so, follow the authentication link, log in and configure with your credentials. The "Facebook Page" options then become available.

When posting new content, other authors do not see the "Facebook Status on Your Timeline" section and so cannot post to your personal timeline.

Where is "the authentication link"? Thanks.

@erica Immediately below point 5. It reads: "Associate your WordPress account with a Facebook account to publish new posts to your Facebook Timeline or Page."

I have clicked on Associate WordPress account with a Facebook account.
It comes up with a screen that says Sacristies of the World would like to post to your friends on your behalf, with two options: Skip or Okay. I clicked on Skip as I want to keep my Timeline and my Page separate. The screen then disappears and I can see the Social Publisher Settings screen again. I then clicked on Connect your Facebook account. Nothing happened. No error. Nothing opened. It's the same as before.

Can anyone help with this? This is the official Facebook plugin for WordPress. Should I use a different plugin?

(disclaimer: I'm not one of the plugin devs and it's a while since I set this up)

IIRC you do have to click "okay" (when you clicked "skip", that is) and then the "Facebook Page" options become available. When you configure those, the plugin will not post to your timeline, but to the selected FB Page instead.

Thank you very much :) That worked. The 'add new' post is set up so that it looks like when I do my next blog post it will also post to my facebook page. Can't wait to try it! But before I do that, is it possible to update my facebook page with all my previous blog posts? I thought I might be able to go into each one, 'edit' then 'publish' and it would simultaneously publish on my facebook page. I've tried that but the facebook info now showing on the 'add new' posts isn't showing on the blog posts I've already posted. Thanks.

That sounds like a separate issue. I'd open a fresh support request if I were you.
