I had posted this under "installation" but WP is installed so I think this might be a better place to seek out feedback. I installed WordPress earlier today and selected a theme (Soul Vision) but nothing comes up on the website when I go to it except some generic ads: http://www.unlimitedlove.org
Does anyone have a sense of what might be the cause? If I just installed WP, does it take some time before any content shows up at the URL or should it happen more quickly? I'm using 1and1 to host the website. Thank you for any feedback.
The landing page that shows up looks like a generic one that 1&1 use when someone buys a hosting package through them but then doesn't have any content uploaded yet. But if you've successfully installed WordPress, that page shouldn't be showing up. Have you tried switching to just the default WordPress theme and see if that fixes the issue?
If that fixes it, you have an issue in the theme you are using. If not, and you've just barely purchased your domain, it might take a little bit of time for the DNS to propagate.

Hi there, thanks for your reply! I tried switching to the twentyeleven theme that comes as a preloaded option, but I got the same 1and1 page. I purchased the domain 2 days ago. Does it usually take a few days for the DNS to propagate? If so, I'll just sit tight and wait. Thanks again for your reply.
In my experience it doesn't usually take that long, and if you can get into your admin I think the front-end should work as well. Did you delete the files that were on your server before uploading WordPress? I think 1&1 by default has a index.html file that if you didn't delete that, it might be what you are seeing when you view your site.
