    I am trying to update my WP to 3.5.2 but it won't work... this is what I get...

    Downloading update from http://wordpress.org/wordpress-3.5.2-partial-1.zip…

    Unpacking the update…

    Could not create directory.: /home/thisgirl/public_html/wp-content/upgrade/wordpress-3.tmp

    Installation Failed

    I am NOT WP savvy by any means... I just like to blog... so I don't know all of the high tech lingo, LOL! Can someone help me it idiot terms? :) I also am having a problem with my most recent posts showing up on my home page... now it's just blank. And I just tried to post something new, and it shows an error message when I try to view the page... I'm lost! Help! :P http://www.thisgirlsnoexpert.com is my blog. Thanks guys!

  2. I highly recommend using the automatic update functionality. Go to:

    Dashboard -> Updates

    For more details see this Codex article: Updating WordPress

    To ensure your recent posts show up on your homepage, check your Reading settings. They are found here:

    Settings -> Reading

    Ensure that Front Page Displays is set to Your Latest Posts

    Let me know if you have any questions.

    The error message that you're seeing is because your hosting company hans't got their server permissions set up to allow you to perform upgrades through the web-based admin area. You'd need to do manual updates if you wanted to do this. Or (what I'd suggest) is talk to your hosting company and get them to set up your account so that it will be allowed. They'll understand what you want to do - and if they don't I'd suggest looking for a host that knows what they are doing. :)
