[resolved] Not working with "ImageMagick Engine" plugin (5 posts)

    Hi volkmar-kantor,

After googling and trying your plugin, as an alternatie to a similar one, I also faced the same problem: is not working with ImageMagick Engine.

I'm using your plugin last version 0.7.2, on wp 3.5.1 with ImageMagick Engine 1.5.0.

It's true that for some user this will not be a big problem, but for those who have to crop big thumbnails and do care about quality, it will be limititative.

You can see the differences, with and without Imagemacick: here and here.

Do you think will be possible to fix it? (would be awesome!) or there is any similar alternative to re-crop the thumbnails you would recommend?

    Thank you for help!

    Hi Ic,
sorry to here that. And i have bad news for you. The Crop-Thumbnail-Plugin will not be corporate with the "ImageMagick Engine" Plugin.

Why: if i read the "ImageMagick Engine" Plugin Description right its a Resizing Plugin. It resizes the WordPress images and cropped-images in the same way (size, filenames) like WordPress and override the default (wordpress) ones.
My Plugin do technically exactly the same, it override the default ones. Your plugin tweak on the quality, mine on the clipping.

    ---
You may get the pleasure to get Images cropped by Imagick - beside from your plugin.
I used the standard wordpress-function to do the cropping. A plugin that want to enhance the quality of the output of my clipping has to exchange the intern wordpress-resize algorithem.

The strange thing is: i do a look into the wordpress code. WordPress may use the imagick library - the code is there. And eventually they use it already. In fact they use a code-pattern to use either
    class-wp-image-editor-imagick.php
    or
    class-wp-image-editor-gd.php
But i don't know under what circumstances they use it.

Maybe i take deeper look later.

Unfortunately, I do not have the skill to go deeper on this as I would like. If you find a solution later, I would be very happy to know!

    Thanks!

Sorry, the "ImageMagic" extension server configuration was incorrect. They just fixe it.

And I tested again your plug in. Now it uses imagemagic -- the color profile is respected.
