   just enabled it and doesnt seem to work with my site. tried multiple browsers. made sure I was signed out of the site.

   Some host return a blank page when you set a 503 header, more than likely the case.

   its set right now at http://www.youandmephotography.net. just shows the site like normal. whats it show for you?

   oh, you are running a caching plugin, a cached page is being served and the plugin never runs. Clear your cache or disable while in maintenance mode.

   Also if you view source you can tell if a cached page is being served. Your using Hyper Cache

   Gol. Im an idiot. You're spot on. Thanks for doing the thinking for me. Can I remove this entire post? Id hate to say it doesnt work when it does.
