[resolved] Not to Display Selected Posts (6 posts)

    Hi,

I'm looking for a way not to display some posts in the top page.

I know there are some plugins out there such as Category Visibility which can help doing this, based on the categories chosen prior to submitting the posts.

However, what I'd like to do is that I have kind of little information to publish but not so important to display in the front page, from all kinds of categories.

I'm aware of the aside technique and sought for plugins providing the solution but I only found ones that use category as the identifier.

Are there any triks which helps to accomplish this kind of need? I guess I need to use the custom field and create a custom function to detect if the posts have that value or not.

Or are there more simplier way of doing this? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Simplest way? You've already dismissed it: Category filtering. There are several plugins that would do it.

Since you don't want to use categories for this, the only plugin I'm aware of that's close would be: http://jynnantonnyx.com/archives/2005/05/17/solvent
    Worth a shot I suppose.

Gosh, I thought the Solvent's is the perfect solution. I wish it were compatible with WPv2.x.

Thank you for the information though.

The reason I prefer not to do category filtering is that I have to create sub categories for each category to hide the posts. This affects the way of displaying archive lists sort by category.

I'm afraid if it takes too much time to figure out how to run the Solvent's plugin in v2.0.

Odd. There are comments on that solvent page of people reporting using it with 2.x.

Well, the check box doesn't appear. I guess upgrading from the earlier versions might be the reason that there are some who can still use it.

I tired disabling the javascripts of the browser setting but with no luck, it didn't work.

I suppose it is only needed to display the check box in the posting page to up to run the plugin, isn't it?
