Install was successfull. Everything is uploaded, I had someone built me an awesome site/blog with wordpress. I have done the install, but all the pages that were built are nowhere to be found. How do I get them to show up??

  • Are you using wp as a content management system or just as a blog built around a website?

I want to say a content management system, but I honestly don’t know. The entire site was built with wordpress is why I’m thinking it is content management system

can you post a link to your site?

Are the content pages not showing up or is the entire theme? If it’s the theme then you’d be seeing the plain
Perhaps the person who built the site didn’t code the menu correctly.

If the menu is being listed via the sidebar, then make sure you have a widget in the sidebar called “Pages”

There are many reasons why the site might not be displaying the menu….

If the entire site was built using wordpress, like Michael said there are many reasons why they might not display things.

Send a link and we can take it from there.

I am also wondering, did they code extra pages into the theme like a page1.php, welcome.php and such like that? or did they make the pages inside wordpress like>>>>pages>>> create new page type deal

There is a “Pages” area in the side bar, but the site I saw had the menu across the top and was a completely different theme.

I’m sure I just forgot to do something as I am totally new to wordpress.

Thanks for all the input this far.

What exactly was built for you, all i see on your site is a default installation of WordPress with the default content on it.

That’s all I see too. The model I was shown was full pages, with pictures posts and everything. I don’t know if I screwed up the install or didn’t get everything for the site, I have tons of files but none of them seem to be showing up. Do I need to add them all to my db? None of them seem to be loading even in my admin page. I managed to find all the pics in the upload directory and got them loaded to the db but that is it, no pages.

Ok, so what were you given, a zip?

Might just be that you need to enable a theme, plugin or both.. depending on what was done for you.

No zip, just copied everything from a USB stick. I will check on that next. Thanks
