Not Seeing Plug-Ins option on Admin Page (5 posts)

Hi (this is going to be a long one because I'm thoroughly confused),

I created my blog on WordPress.com. I also registered my domain name and paid for mapping all through WordPress.com. I learned from some other blogs that they use AWeber for their newsletters and webforms, so I paid for an account to utilize these items only to find out that WordPress.com doesn't allow webforms (nor plug-ins as I am finding out now).

So, I then paid more money to host my blog with BlueHost. I followed their directions regarding importing my blog and downloaded WordPress.org 3.1. When I go back to my blog (that I started on WordPress.com and I'm thinking is now self-hosted) I don't see a Plug-Ins option on my admin page, nor can I get the webform from AWeber to appear.

What I am doing missing now? Any help (step by step) will be so very much appreciated.

    Thank you!!

If you don't have AWeber, or any plugins on WordPress.com, why are you trying to get these from them? Wasn't the point of getting your own WordPress so you could have plugins?

Signing up with another host, doesn't make your WordPress.com site be self hosted. It doesn't do anything to your WordPress.com site, but simply allows you to setup a new site with your new host. It is the new site which will have the plugin options.

Ohhh...I see. So, I have to create a whole new site to be able to take advantage of the WordPress.org and AWeber functions.

So now my question is now that I have new host, how do I get a new site from WordPress.org? I'll poke around the forums for any previous related questions, but in the meantime if someone can help me out I'd appreciate it.

    Thanks bh_WP_fan!!

  4. You have to install WordPress on your server. This site (wordpress.org) is for support of SELF installed WordPress.

Ipstenu--thank you! Didn't realize that this forum was for SELF installed WordPress--good to know for future reference. I'll work with my host.
