Responsive Gallery Grid
NOT Responsive Light-Boxed Images (6 posts)

I'm confused because this plugin seems to be anything but responsive once a user taps on an image in the grid using a small screen such as on a smartphone. Doing so invokes a conventional lightbox that is not responsive and even caused a critical problem on an iPhone.

An example is on the demo page when visited on my iPhone: http://bdwm.be/rgg/demo/

Tapping an image in the grid (I tried the spider web shot) brings up a huge image that makes me scroll way off the edges just to find a way to deactivate the annoyingly huge lightbox. In fact, this caused a critical bug that forced me to close the Safari browser tab because the image could NOT be closed. While hunting about to kill the lightbox, the image eventually disappeared though the lightbox background did not with no "X" button available to close it.

To be clear, the grid is nicely responsive, but the larger lightbox image once a grid block is tapped was not so I'm not sure how this qualifies as a viable responsive solution.

Am I missing something obvious? I'm using an iPhone 4S with latest iOS 6.1.3 on Safari.

Hi, thanks for reporting the problem.

The lightbox isn't enabled by default. I have installed another plugin on my site, called jQuery Colorbox, because of the large ammount of people requesting a demo with lightbox example. I'll prepare and example with the default behaviour for you, and maybe try to disable the lightbox effect for mobile users.

I have tweaked the settings of Colorbox a bit so the max height and width of the lightbox are set to 90% of the screen size. Let me know if this still gives you errors. Please just try again here: http://bdwm.be/rgg/demo/

Note that you may have to clear your cache before the settings take effect

    Hi everyone,

I had the same problem that sassymonkey mentioned, most of the lightboxes are not very handy on mobile devices. A lightbox-plugin for WP that tries to solve this problem is the WP jQuery Lightbox. Unfortunately, the RGG plugin is not working when installed together with jqlb as mentioned in this thread.
I tried to fix this, because I think the combination of both plugins is very powerful. I posted my solution in the thread mentioned above, hope it helps someone.
Thanks to Jules Colle for his beatiful gallery plugin! :)

Captions are not supported as such. The caption text will be assigned to the title attribute of the links. You can only read them when you mouse over an image or if you use colorbox and open the image in a lightbox.

I will work out a way to include more options to display captions in the future
