Latest update does not work. Worpress goes in maintenance mode and the installation fails.

Could you log in to your site via FTP, delete the existing Jetpack plugin folder, and reinstall the plugin manually as explained here:
http://codex.wordpress.org/Managing_Plugins#Manual_Plugin_Installation

If the maintenance mode doesn’t disappear, you can disable it like so:
http://codex.wordpress.org/Common_WordPress_Errors#Maintenance_Mode_Following_Upgrade
