Hi, all,
I selected to allow anyone to post after a simple registration. I had a user complain today that they never received the password the site promised them.
I think I know why, but I need to understand: where does WordPress make the connection to the local server's email system?
I'm on a Linux server running Fedora Core 8.

Added detail:
It was working just fine. Then my server crashed and I had to reinstall Linux; and THEN I upgraded Linux from Fedora Core 7 to Core 8.
I updated sendmail.mc to recognize my ISP's outgoing mail host as the relay for outgoing mail (smtp.comcast.net).
When I get a new user to register, root on my local host gets mail indicating a couple of things: 1) wordpress@myblogname.com failed (UNKNOWN). and 2) internal.relay.comcast.net (fictitious name) BLOCKED.
Any suggestions?

Are you authenticating into the mail relay?
I did a post about this: http://wordpress.org/support/topic/201099?replies=1
