• On the upper right side of every page of my blog are these words:

    Not Found
The requested URL /2.txt was not found on this server.

And at the bottom of ever page are the words:

    http://www.wordpress-tech.org

So, I looked at the http://www.wordpress-tech.org website and it says they have been online since Feb 16, 2011.

Does this mean my website has been hacked or is it a plug-in issue or a server issue?

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Ten theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

Deactivating all of the plugins didn’t work.

What did work, though, was switching themes. I’ve checked header.php, sidebar.php and footer.php for this error message and cannot find it to delete it. Any more ideas on where to look?

It could be in any of the template files. Have you looked in functions.php? Are there loop-xxx.php files?

Actually I was wrong. I did find some reference in the footer:

How do I get rid of the call to http://www.wordpress-tech.org/2.txt

    Do I just delete it?

Okay, I fixed it by putting a blank 2.txt file at the root and pointing the url to this.
