Everyone,
After fiddling with settings and reading and so fourth I decided to go ahead and set up categories for the blog I am working on. So I go into wp-admin and set them all up there. I have everthing the way I want it. But when I viewed the site not a single category was listed except uncategorized which was the default.
Do you know what is happening? I have tried switching my permalink structure with no luck as well. The categories still do not show up!
I even go to where they SHOULD be located in the browser (the same location as the uncategorized but I type in the specific category name instead) and nothing is there at all.
Do any of you know what is happening? I have been fighting and fighting to get a theme formatted the way I want it and now this happens. I am about to go bonkers! Please help me!
do you have at least one entry associated with the each category?

Ok. I didn't realize what was happening and now it is fixed... I see the categories!
How do I change their order however?

charley97,
Yep. That was the problem. Thanks for responding! Do you happen to know how to change the order of the categories? Also, how do I remove the numbers after the categories that show how many posts have been made in each one?

Now everything is getting published in uncategorized again. I have other categories, but everything nis getting published in uncategorized. What is wrong!?
It is one problem after another!
are you categorizing your posts before you post?

Can you tell me how to stop stuff from going into uncategorized? How can I DELETE uncategorized? I do not even WANT uncategorized! It looks like not matter what category I put a post in it goes into uncategorized as well, and the permalink shows it as in uncategorized.
Would someone please tell me what to do. I am totally new at all this stuff and honestly and humbly will admit I don't have a clue what to do.
well the uncategorized category is the default category. when you write a new post, you'll need to uncheck the uncategorized category box as well as check the categories you want.
you can also set the category listing tag to not show the uncategorized category even if it has associated entries.

Thank you Charle97! That worked. I was accidentally selecting uncategorized. Could you tell me exactly what to do to set the category listing tag not to show uncategorized? It would be a huge help to me, because if I don't I am afraid I will be making some major boo boos with my blog repeadly by accidentally putting stuff in uncategorized!
what tag are you using to list you categories?
if you're using list_cats, there is an exclude parameter you can define. uncategorized is represented as 1.
