    Hi,

Make sure that your Permalinks are not broken. Try resetting them to default in the Admin Panel and then back to Pretty again.

    Cheers!

    Hi,

Yep this looks like you have "permalinks" setup but the .htaccess file is either not there or it is not writable to wordpress. This covers it all in depth http://codex.wordpress.org/Using_Permalinks. Often people are just missing the .htaccess file which you can make with any simple text editor. Resetting the permalinks to default as Marventus noted should get the site functional again.

    Hope that helps.

    Cheers,
    Chad

Looks like something's missing or not working in your theme files. Change to bp-default theme.

I just had a similar problem here, and switching the permalinks did help. The website broke after I tried to create .htaccess file myself, so it probably overwritten the wordpress's file.
The thing is, I can't see the .htaccess file on the server, I didn't get any overwriting messages, and the file didn't appear after I copied it to the server, WHY?

I'm asking because I keep struggling with another problem (Allowed memory size ... exhausted) and .htaccess could help to resolve it. The technical support in hosting company just cannot be bothered.

    Thanks

    Hi,

Make sure your FTP client allows you to see "hidden files" generally there is a setting to turn that on. Otherwise any files starting with a "." in the beginning will be invisible.

    Hope that helps.

    Cheers,
    Chad

    Hi Gregorious,

How are you seeing/accessing your server files? Typically, FTP clients have an option to enable the display of hidden files. In Filezilla, for instance, it's under the Server tab in the top menu.
In your case, it seems to be disabled, which is why you can't see it even after placing it there.

    I hope that helps.

Edit: Chad's came in while I was writing my answer, so sorry about the duplicate info.

Nope, it's not that. I can see the .htaccess on another server without any problems.
I use Total Commander for FTP. It was not showing hidden files, but it doesn't help to switch them on - I still can't see it.

Try using a different FTP client just in case and check if you can see the hidden files with that one.

Just tried with Fire FTP and Show Hidden Files on and still nothing, I'm afraid.
I've checked other folders (there's Public_HTML and WWW) but none of them contains the file.

    That's odd, indeed.
Some hosting plans don't support .htaccess functionality. Are you sure yours does?

That's what I thought, but I was surprised when the links stopped working after I tried to upload my own.

Never mind, everything works now, will see how long it will last.
    Thanks for help.
