JW Player for Flash & HTML5 Video
Non-ASCII Chars in Movie-Names (10 posts)

    Hi,

it seems, that the JW Player does not like movie names with special chars although wordress itself has no problem with them.

JW Player refuses to play a video named Törn-1.mp4 for example, it looks for a file `T%F6rn-1.mp4' instead, which does not exist.

Would be great if this could be fixed in future versions.

    Thanks,
    Bogdan

    Yes:

    http://blog-carolin-iii.medianotions.de/allgemeines/2013/video-test-ii/
    Password: jwplayer!

And here is the file I am trying to embed:

    http://blog-carolin-iii.medianotions.de/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/T%C3%B6rn-1.mp4

I just found out that the error comes up only in Firefox, Chrome works fine – strange!

    Thanks,
    Bogdan

Yeah, it looks like the file is turned into - http://blog-carolin-iii.medianotions.de/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/T%F6rn-1.mp4

It looks like the source is being set to - "file":"http://blog-carolin-iii.medianotions.de/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/T\u00f6rn-1.mp4"

What is the shortcode for this post?

    Hm, what if you use:

    [jwplayer file="http://blog-carolin-iii.medianotions.de/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/T%C3%B6rn-1.mp4"]

I updated the page and inserted the alternate shortcode beneath the first one:

    http://blog-carolin-iii.medianotions.de/allgemeines/2013/video-test-ii/
    Password: jwplayer!

This works now also in Firefox. Can you tell if this is a bug in the plugin or in Firefox itself?

    Thanks,
    Bogdan

It looks like the bottom one works. We use the built in media manager from WP, so for the top one, it looks like the media manager doesn't like those characters in the file name.

Ok, at least we know what's the cause now. Thank you for looking into it!
