• The toolbar has disappeared from my visual editor and I can’t type in the box at all.

I’ve seen this problem on other forums where it’s been blamed on antivirus software, people’s weird codes and the like.

I’m a newbie, I’m running NO antivirus software, haven’t written any strange code in there. I’ve only had this blog about a week or two and there’s not even much on it yet.

It was working OK until yesterday.

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder – from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.

Well, was already on Twenty Eleven anyway.

Killed my plugin. Only had the “Hello Dolly” one anyway.

Tried resetting the plugins folder like your link told me to…no change.

Now I’m trying to figure out how to delete all the old files and folders. I’m in my FTP program looking at a bunch of files that start with wp- and end with .php. Do I delete those too?

Every folder except the wp-content folder.

Oh crap. I think I installed this wrong and killed the whole website.

Thanks for the help anyway. Now I have a whole bunch of other stuff to figure out.
