    Hi All,

I successfully installed WordPress but the original page is showing up from the hosting company and not the WordPress Default 1.6 theme. See my blog for what the orignal page looks like:
    http://www.brooklynfits.com

When I go into my WP Control Panel – Appearance/Themes – it states that the current theme is WordPress Default 1.6

Do i need to change the code in the index.html file inside my root domain/web/content?

It looks like the code on that index.html file is what is displaying.

  • Delete index.html. Be careful not to delete index.php.

Your web site will show index.html instead of index.php by default. Once you delete index.html you will be greeted by the shiny world of WordPress.

    Thanks for the quick answer..

I deleted the index.html file… I see the index.php file there, but it still shows that original page.

Does the index.php file have to be in a specific directory? Such as wp-admin, wp-content or wp-includes? right now the index.php file is in my root directory…

I see a wordpress site at the link above. Youve removed the file you needed to remove. dont delete any other files.

but it still shows that original page.

You need to clear your browser cache.

I am trying to upload the new theme that I have in a zip file into my wp-content/themes directory. Where do I find that directory?

    Thanks,
    Rebecca
