• Hi there,
I wonder why I get the message that my host has disabled the mail() function everytime I want to register or do anything related to email-things.
I only get this error in WP 2.0.1, in WP 1.5.2 everything works fine. The installations above are on the same space, but in different folders and they use different databases.

    Can anyone please help me?

    Thanks in advance!

  • I’m having the EXACT same problem!

My 1.5.1.3 email works just fine for every function and plugins.

I installed 2.0.2 and NOTHING email wise works! I get the mail() function is disabled everytime.

I’ve searched the support forums and can not see a resolution, I know we’re not the only ones having the problem. My server is a Linux.

Somebody please help or at least point us in the right direction.

For me, I get the host may have disabled mail() function.
What I did is go into php.ini and set the smtp server to a functional mail server. i.e. smtp.my-domain-name.com Email retrieval and other mail related function started working after. If you dont run your own mail server, you can try to use your ISP’s smtp mail server. However, your isp may not allow you to relay mail through their mail server. In that case, you are out of luck unless you run your own mail server.
