    We were using <hr /> to create a horizontal to separate sections of a daily post, but now this no longer works. Why, and what can we use to replace it?

    This is without any site changes such as updates to WP, updates to theme, updates to plugins or any manual file changes?

    @ScalableSite

    please start your own topic.

    your problem is totally unrelated to the ongoing topic.

    @medmonds

    please post a link to your site.
    could be something in the css that is suppressing hr tags.

    try to add something like this to style.css of your theme:

    hr { background:#999; }

    can you post a direct link to a post where you added the <hr /> tag?

    In the stylesheet there is a line
    #content hr, #container hr { border: none; }
    that is getting rid of the look of the line.

    Thank you very much. I'll contact the web designer who set up the site. To my knowledge he has not done any recent work on the site, but it looks from this as though he has.

    the style is from a plugin:

    /wp-content/plugins/bbpress/bbp-themes/bbp-twentyten/css/bbpress.css?ver=20110912

    @alchymyth

    And thank you - saves me having to contact the web designer. But since this is from a plugin, how can I get around it? We installed the bbPress plugin for our forum & would like to continue to use it if possible, but we also want the <hr> function. Suggestions?
