No longer able to log in to my WordPress site, and URL won't load either (3 posts)

I was trying to modify a post in my website (add a table with links), and something went wrong. I couldn't delete a table once I'd put it in - (had initially put it in using copy/paste from MS word). Things seemed to be going buggy, so I closed the browser, then tried to log back in. It won't let me log back in (just keeps trying to load). Then I tried to go to the website (www.avenuesofpeace.org) and it too won't load.
I went to my web host, and tried to restore the site to an earlier time, but that didn't change the problem.
I want to get my site back up and running. I called the web host provider - the person thought that maybe the WordPress got corrupted and I'd need to re-download WordPress. (And I'm also concerned about whether I may have lost content, or re-installing wordpress would cause loss of content).
Plus, I'm not the person who designed the site, and I only know how to upload and edit content. (And, I hadn't continued to work with the person who did the design and the back-end WordPress work, so I feel a fair bit up a creek with no paddle.)
Any ideas of what has gone wrong, and how to fix it?
    Thanks much.
    Robert

p.s. - I don't know which version I have...but I do have a copy of the files I downloaded after this problem happened, in case 'properties' on one can show which version I have.

Correction - the website does load.....but only after 5+ minutes.
But I can't login to WordPress site
    http://www.avenuesofpeace.org/wp-login.php
After I put in my user name and password and hit return, after a long time of trying to load the server or browser returns this message:
    "Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
Please contact the server administrator, support@powweb-inc.com and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.
More information about this error may be available in the server error log."

I did manage to find the 'cgi error log' - and copied it to a text file, in case it's of any use.

Hooray, somehow it's all now working. I have not clue as to why, but I'm glad.
Thank you if you have looked at this thread.
