[resolved] No Line Breaks in Comments (7 posts)

    Does anybody have any idea why a certain theme wouldn't put line breaks in comments?

    I contacted the author of the theme and he said it works fine on his site running it.

    If I change to a different theme it puts them in with no problem, but then I change back and they disappear.

    Any ideas?

    I had the same problem and I added this in the HTML source of my posts, everytime (whaat a pain)

    <div class="clear">   </div>

    Where "clear" is a CSS rule:

    .clear {
    clear: both;
    margin: 0;
    padding: 0;
    }

    Thanks for the suggestion, but that didn't work, either.

    I put the css rule in the stylesheet template, and the div class in the post, and also in the post template, but it didn't work.

    Thanks again, though. Any other suggestions are more than welcome!

    did you put a non breaking space like this:

    <div class="clear"> &nbsp; </div>

    So, just to get this straight...

    I need to add the

    .clear {
    clear: both;
    margin: 0;
    padding: 0;
    }

    in the stylesheet...

    and the

    <div class="clear">   </div>

    in the body of the post, and that's supposed to add line breaks when a person posts a comment and they put a line break in?

    Temporarily in your .commentlist p declaration you can pull the line-height property and replace it with:

    padding-top: 1em;

    This should provide proper spacing between comment paras, though it doesn't actually deal with the essential problem (where ever that might lay in your css).

    Thanks Kaf, that worked... I don't know where the actual problem lies, but since there is a solution, i'm golden.

    Thanks again!
