Same here: http://bianchistage.com
“Instagram has returned invalid data.”
Same goes for me, tried to install it again also – i guess instagram changed something in their API?
Would be glad if this is restored since the widget did the job i need it to do 🙂

Same here… Hopefully a quick solution can be provided.
On Github (https://github.com/cftp/wp-instagram-widget) where the code is posted. About 10 days ago the initial release of this plugin was done. 4 days ago someone opened an issue with regards to the composer.json, that’s how data is retrieved via oAuth (as I understand it correctly).
Will try to post a notification over there.
Thanks Danny — keep us posted
So over on Github it was posted that composer.json has nothing to do with this problem (how I read it). I’m having the issue, too, and would love to know the answer. Thanks!

Looking into this issue now. Will update you soon… looks like Instagram made some changes straight after the plugin was released.
I raised the composer.json issue, it has nothing to do with Instagram or Oauth, see https://getcomposer.org/
If you Google “Instagram has returned invalid data” you will find it is occurring in many blogs. I have tried using a variety of plugins for showing latest Instagram picture and all of them have this same prompt. The Plugin was working fine until a few days ago then suddenly, with no changes to my site, I started getting this “invalid data” prompt in place of the latest picture. Is it an Instagram problem or a WordPress problem?

Please can you try this version:

And let me know how you get on. The issue was caused by a change made to the Instagram website.

This fix has now been pushed to WordPress.org and will be available in your dashboard soon.
Thanks for the quick action, Scott!

Checked it, it works! Thanks for fixing.
Maybe it’s worth updating the WordPress changelog though? It’s still listing v1.0.

Ok, clear. Cache will be refreshed somewhere in time 🙂
Btw. could you give some more guidance on how to style the widget? I’ve read about the null master + child theme. Currently having TwentyTwelve theme as master and using another child theme (as overlay).
Want to create an Instagram widget grid in the sidebar of (let’s says) 2 columns by 3 rows. Where do I place that styling exactly?
