Thanks
Dave
Is yours missing an Import button too?
No I got the button that says “UPLOAD FILE TO IMPORT” so i try ti import
and all i get is
Are you sure you want to do this?
Please try again.
I don’t have an option of “YES or NO”
very strange, seems like there’s more posts on different things, than people actually sitting down with you and trying to figure some things out..
I can’t even uploading my blogger.com stuff also
Could not connect to https://www.google.com
There was a problem opening a secure connection to Google. This is what went wrong:
Unable to find the socket transport “ssl” – did you forget to enable it when you configured PHP? (4)
Thats what I get grrr… I don’t know mind as well just keep with my wordpress.com profile this is way to much for me!
Since we didn’t get answers, I went ahead and built a new MySQL and installed WordPress 2.5.1 brand new again, checked to see if it would let me Import. I finally got it to import after the 3rd attempt (third re-install, third re-build). No idea why, but it was very frustrating!!!
i just got a blog
http://www.youaretehscene.com
and I can’t import my .xml cause its bigger than 2MB 🙁 so im like posting everything one by one 🙁 it sucks man.
But its telling me to upgrade to the newest wordpress, im afraid cause i don’t want to overwrite anyting, and lose my new themes i got and plugins
You won’t lose anything, just by following the regular upgrade-instructions. I managed upgrading, but importing sucks…
I can’t import .xml either, but I have really no idea, why this won’t work. The thing with “bigger than 2mb” is discussed here somewhere. Just editing the php.ini or something like that and changing the allowed filesize.
So this shouldn’t be the problem at all.
@dracthor – if you don’t see Import under the Manage tab I would question if you have all the files intact. At a minimum reupload the wp-admin/import
folder.
I have this problem too. I’ve tried deleting all the files and uploading them again, but it didn’t help.
The functionality is there, I can access the URL domain.com/wp-admin/import.php and import entries, it’s only the link that is missing from the Manage tab. It’s not a big issue since it works, but it still annoys me.
If the link from the manage tab is missing, then, at minimum, you have the wrong wp-admin/menu.php file.
Redownload a fresh copy of WordPress and reupload the wp-admin directory correctly.
