I just started a new website and want to use WordPress for a CMS website. I read all about how to create a static home page and I think I did everything right -- except that it won't show up!
If you go to my website:
erikaheidewald.com
Nothing shows up, just the hostgator logo. But my news page will show up if you go to erikaheidewald.com/news . It seems that I cannot create a main page!
I keep trying to change the permalinks so that when you go to erikaheidewald.com it will just take you to the page I have created and called "home" but I obviously can't figure this out because no matter what permalink I give it, it will not show up! I would greatly appreciate any help you could give me.

Probably need to delete an index.html file in your web-root folder.
