I don't see the Gallery placeholder that used to be there in the Visual Editor. Have been noticing it since the beginning but it still seems missing after all these updates recently. Anyone having the same issue?

  2. I cannot reproduce this.

    What theme are you using?

I can reproduce it, I'm using 2013 as a blog theme but the change occurs in the editor after post formats moved all the way over to the right-hand sidebar (which sucks).

It seems to have broken adding a video to a post as well as images. Terrible. Changing the post format using the radio buttons doesn't change anything, either.

Screenshot of adding "media from a URL" which seemed like the best choice (but still not as logical and graceful as the previous method of having the gallery thingy above the post editor) results in a post with the URL, not an embedded media container in the post.

Oh good it looks like it also ate the media from every single post I had on one of my sites, too.

http://photo.kvet.ch/ is a photoblog that is now without displayed photos.

This is apparently due to the removal of Post Formats from WP-Core to be implemented (later?) as a plug-in that isn't available now.

I'm in the process of reverting to beta3 until the plug-in is available for testing, and gnashing my teeth at people who whined about post formats in Core.

Missing gallery placeholder in Visual editor is a known issue, see the comments on #24344 and #24379 for details.

Post formats have nothing to do with that. For now the workaround is to add SCRIPT_DEBUG constant to your wp-config.php file.
