No featuered Image in Backend | WordPress.org

I cant see the area for “featured image” in the backend so i cant upload any image.
i´m using the plugin on an multisite with WP 3.71
any ideas?

You need to add this line in your functions.php to activate post thumbnails (which is featured image obviously):

add_theme_support( 'post-thumbnails' );

but it doesnt work…when i add the code
the site shows an empty page….
