Hi,

First, I'd like to thank you for a great plugin! :)
Not sure if this is a bug, but if I use the upcoming event widget, if there are no events (past, present or future) then nothing gets displayed in the widget, just the widget title...
Even though I did setup a custom text to say there was NO EVENTS with the following widget options:
Show this text if there are no events meeting your criteria: ....

Is this normal? I guess after I do add some events that will not be a problem because there will always the last 2/ future 3 events to display... but as I am starting this calendar I don't have any event yet set and would like to have some kind of message saying there are no events rather than just a "blank" widget.

Thanks.
B.

Can you tell me your settings for the upcoming events widget? I'll check this, but there's a fair amount of variability depending on the mode: showing by events or by days.

Sure, here are the settings:
Template:
{date} – {details}
{time}, {category}

Widget Options
Widget title links to:
(blank)

Display upcoming events by:
event (2 past, 3 future)

All the rest is blank except for a TICK for:
Include today's events

So I think it is the standard settings for that widget.

Ah - it took me a little while to notice this, but it sounds like you're assuming that there are default values for the future/past events to show. The indicator in the "Display upcoming events by" dropdown is just for an example; you have to provide values for the future and past events indicators.

While researching this, I did find a bug that was undoubtedly causing a problem for you due to these unset values; set them, and you should be fine. But let me know.

Hi Joe,
Thanks for the info, but it still doesn't work.

I did set "3" for future and "2" for past.
I only have 2 events and they are in a private category.
if a user is not logged in, it still doesn't show what I wrote in: "Show this text if there are no events meeting your criteria: ...."

If I have 1 event private and 1 event public then if a user is not logged in I can see the public event.

But if I only have 2 private, and with the above config nothing is displayed.

So my fix at the moment is to have a dummy "public" event so something is displayed... not a big deal :)

Hmmm. Might relate to private events; I'll check on that.
