No email notification of comments (12 posts)

All of a sudden, I'm not getting emails when someone comments on my blogs. I implemented two plug-ins today. Joel Bennett's Acronym Replacer and Robert Deaton's Words per Post plug-ins. I've tried deactiving the plug-ins to see if that takes care of the problem, but when I try that, I get this error, "Sorry, you need to enable sending referrers, for this feature to work." Which makes no sense because I was able to deactivate plug-ins earlier today.

So, no email notifications of comments, yet I am getting email notifications of emails waiting to be moderated. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?

    Thanks!

    You´ve actived function php mail()?
You could use class PHPMAILER and class SMTP. In my blog don´t active mail() , I´m using those classes.

Excuse, me english is very bad.

Hmm... thanks for the links Macmanx. I'm opening a support ticket with my host to check on that end. I am getting email to that address, so it's not like ALL mail has ceased to arrive. Just the comment notification emails. And since I'm gettting emails for comments being held for moderation, it leads me to believe it's a WP issue and not an actual host/email issue. I'll keep trouble-shooting, but if anyone has any other suggestions, I would welcome them.

I forgot to add in my first post that I am using WP v1.21 and have not recently upgraded.

    Thanks.

After reading those links, it looks like there really isn't a solution for this problem. At least not any that I've seen, which is frustating because if it's happening to this many people, it's got to be some kind of bug in WP. Are the delopers aware of this?

I'm still waiting to hear back on the support ticket I've opened up with my host, but I don't suspect there will be anything wrong on that end. I've re-checked my WP settings, checked my directory permissions, tried changing the email address and changing it back, but still nothing.

    *sigh*

  5. Try upgrading to WP v1.2.2, or wait for v1.5. My Spider Sense tells me that it's coming soon.

Thanks for the suggestion, but is that the only way to fix this problem? It seems like that's the answer given for a lot of problems in the forums. I can't upgrade every time something happens that can't be fixed. :-( Plus, I've seen others with this problem and upgrading hasn't fixed it for them either.

Thanks anyway Macmanx! I appreciate all the help.

  7. The issue isn't that upgrading fixes everything. It doesn't, but the point is that sometimes it does. At the very least, it makes it easier for us to help you. IOW, all of the heavy-hitters in the forums are running v1.5 now, I think I was the last to adopt it.

Other than that, I can't offer any alternative solutions at this time.

As soon as V1.5 is released in a non-beta form, I'll try d/l it to see if it help. Thanks again!

I saw that right after I posted! Unfortunately, upgrading hasn't solved this problem. =(

Not sure if this will help anyone with this problem but recently I installed a WP setup for a friend on her GoDaddy account and as my email address was used in the install, I suddenly started getting email notifications from her blog. I had done the original theme design on my ISP and when I went back to check if I could get notification from it, no go. So, I contacted my ISP and they fixed the problem right away.

It had something to do with a sendmail counter on their server having reached its limit. They reset the counter and increased the level and now I'm getting email from my WP blog. Version 2.0.4

Hope that helps someone. It sure is nice getting email from my blog again.
