Help! This blog worked just fine on the development server, but when uploaded to its final destination I receive this message: "No database selected checking category id". I have deleted the database and recreated it, also re-uploaded all of the wordpress files from the server which works (these are located at http://www.mariagrist.net/wordpress) but still receive the above error. Is this because the server is using SFTP? or have I done something wrong? My knowledge of php and databases is practically non-existent so I am stuck on troubleshooting this one. All help gratefully received, thanks!!!

What versions of PHP & MySQL are on your host's server?

I don't know and I don't know how to find out using cPanle, so I might contact the hosting provider. Thanks

It might be worth sending them the link to http://codex.wordpress.org/Hosting_WordPress to confirm that the requirements are met and also http://codex.wordpress.org/User:Hakre/Technical_Installation

Thanks for your help. I found what the problem is. The .htaccess file on the server was causing problems and the server commented it out. After this the site is now up and running.
