    Hi,
I am the administrator of our blog. I have recently changed the roles of some of my subscribers, to "authors," because i need help with the writing process. The problem is, that when my authors log into their account, they cannot see their dashboard or start writing. How can I activate the dashboard for the rest of my users?

It should be active by default.

So do you have any other plugins active that deal with users or roles?

What exactly do they see when the login to wp-admin?

The users enter with their login info... and only see the word dashboard, and below it, wp-news stand. There are two icons right next to it, one that says go to your blog, and another one that says dashboard. but when you click on it nothing happens. Do you think it could be a plugin interfering? I hadn't thought about it, and i feel i'm a bit in unknown territory but let me check... Thanks for the idea.

There are plugins that restrict roles from what they see in wp-admin

But if you don't remember setting any of these up then I doubt it would be it.

I would just double check their profile to make sure they are listed as an author. They should at least see the posts menu.
