ok. i am using http://www.powweb.com as my web host. they offer WORD PRESS in their installation section and it installs it for you... I did their installation and it said that it was complete... i have searched their website and can't find anything but generic WORDPRESS information (looks like its the same introduction that wordpress.org has on their site) and so I have no clue what to do now... it is apparently installed - so now what? My friend told me to use wordpress to add posts to my website (not a web blog) and that it would work better than my manually changing my HTML every time there is an update for news for my site... can anyone help me? I'm so utterly clueless about how this works and what i'm supposed to do. please email me at emjaykayme@gmail.com.
I appreciate it!
Start with this:
Introduction_to_Blogging and WordPress Semantics.
Then review more of the Codex articles listed under WordPress for Beginners section of Getting_Started_with_WordPress.

ok - i did read all of those things - they don't really answer my questions/problems as they talk about things like you know what they're talking about!
i had wordpress installed on MY SITE - not wordpress.com - and ALL of the instructions for layouts/designs/customizing keep telling me to log into the ADMIN paneL!! what the heck is that? i can't tell the difference between when the articles are talking about wordpress.COM or wordpress.ORG (these are 2 different sites!) and neither is EVER clarified!
why do i need to get a wordpress site on wordpress.COM if MY SITE is the one hosting the blog!? if i sign up for a blog on wordpress.COM - that is a blog hosted on WORDPRESS.COM!!!!!! NOT ON MY SITE!!!! it doesn't make ANY sense.
why is this so difficult!
Admin panel is located in the /wp-admin subdirectory. So if your blog was set up at yoursite.com, the admin panel will be at yoursite.com/wp-admin. If your blog was setup at yoursite.com/blog, the admin panel will be at yoursite.com/blog/wp-admin.
Blog is up and running at http://www.michellepfeiffer.us/home/ so marking this resolved.
