[resolved] "No categories" in Internet Explorer, but not Firefox (3 posts)

When I use the wp_list_categories function in my sidebar to list the subcategories of the current category, I am able to get a list of subcategories...that only shows up in Firefox. In Internet Explorer, I get "No categories". I have echoed out the category number, so I know that the browser is getting that number, just the list is not being generated, but only in Internet Exploder.

I'm using the default theme, version 2.3.2, and yes, I've cleared my cache.

I appreciate any help anybody can give me on this. It's driving me mad! Why would logic be displayed differently in different browsers?

    ARGH!

youre apt to not get any help without a link to your blog. Most of us like to see things for ourselves.

Sorry, about 8 hours into this, I had figured it out. It was a dumb move on my part. I was logged in with 2 separate accounts on both browsers, with one browser (user) having complete access to all categories, the other not.

Lesson learned here, if anybody comes across this post, and you just can't figure something out...

I've been using WordPress for quite a while, and have stayed away from posting because I've been able to find the answers by using the codex. I became frustrated and strayed away from my usual way of fixing things. When I run across something that just doesn't make sense, I...

    1. Check to see if I've written anything that would cause a problem in my code
    2. Check my plugins. This not only means checking for incompatibilities, but also means checking to see if one of the plugins is actually doing something its supposed to (like in this case).
    3. Go back through the code
    4. Search the boards for a few hours
    5. Do it all again
    6. Post

I want to say that to anybody who comes across this posting that if you're having a problem, someone else has probably had it. Look and study, its what makes you a better programmer, designer, and in this case, WordPress administrator.

This is a solid software package, useful in so many ways, and the support is awesome. This is a great community.
