No ads on the sidebar (12 posts)

I've been at this for 3 hours now. I have a block of Adsense right at the top of the page which shows fine. I want to show another block at the bottom of the sidebar. But for some reason the second block won't show. The invocation code (generated by Google) shows up on the source but no ad. Any ideas?

Its a google thing. If you only have 3 or less, dont worry, itll show in time as long as the code is right and it shows in the source.

I only have two. I'm pretty sure it's not a google thing since the first one showed instantly.

It is a google thing... happens to may websites, not just WP ones.. there are a lot of comments on this as well. I had the same problem. Both started showing a day later.

It's a about a non-WP code. Ask those who provided the code for you.

Yeah, it's a google thing. Google will try to detect (sometimes inaccurately) how many ads are on your page and decide not display any more. That's why you see a blank where your second set of ads are supposed to be.

It is a google thing. How could it possibly be a WP thing? WP knows nothing about adsense. It doesn't care about it. If it isn't showing, one of two things is wrong: the code or google. Since the code for #2 is the same as #1, and that works. One has to assume the code isn't the problem. Therefor, by reason of reduction, Google has to be the problem.

You'll really have to ask the Adsense people....

Asking Google would have been fine, but it appears other WordPress users have had this same experience and knew what to advise (wait a day). So I don't see the harm in asking here. This forum is a community of users with like-experiences. Asking Google would just be asking a company rep to hopefully reply. I don't think this is about blaming WordPress, so much as it is about sharing answers with fellow WP users.

FWIW, I had the same problem and I ended up deleting the second AdSense because I thought it didn't work and I did something wrong. Now I learned from this thread that I should add it back and wait 2 days and then see.

I had a similar problem a while back...

Luckily for me the problem seemed to "go away" when I changed to a new theme.

It happens every now and then. For a few days mine had a blank space and then it finally corrected itself. The problem is definitely on the google end and nowhere else. Just be patient, it'll eventually work itself out.
