• Hello – I just installed the Password Protect plug-in through the WordPress Plug-ins page. After installing, the screen returned to a blank screen, showing only the left nagivation area (Dashboard, Posts, Plugins, Appearance, etc.) – but when I click on these links, nothing happens – therefore I cannot get into any of my posts, settings, etc.

Any idea how I can reverse this installation? If I cannot resolve this, I cannot use the blog!

I look forward to your (hopefully quick) reply!

    Thank you!

  • What version of WordPress are you using?
I’ve not been able to recreate that issue.
Do you have any caching plugins installed – that can sometimes cause issues.

At what point did this happen?
    Straight after installing the plugin?
    Had you activated the plugin?
Had you editing the Password Protected settings yet?

Honestly, I am not sure what version of WordPress I have – I can’t check that now since I can’t get to anything in the Dashboard or Admin part of the blog. I see that it says to update to 3.8.1 at the top of the screen, but I have not done that (afraid to, quite honestly, as I don’t know what updating might do to what I already have set up).

I logged into my blog as Admin, went to the Plugins menu and choose Add New. From there, I searched for password protect, found the plugin and clicked Install and then Activate. That’s all I did. The screen immediately went blank – except for the left navigation. When I click on ANY of the left nav links, they do not open up – the screen just stays blank. I was never prompted to enter a password after installing the plugin.

I took a screen shot of what I am seeing right now, but I don’t see a way to attach it to this message.

Is there some way of uninstalling this? I’m literally dead-in-the-water right now as I cannot access posts, pages, or anything.

    Appreciate your help! Thank you!

Still hopeful for some help regarding this issue. Cannot do anything with the blog at this point, and am desperate for help.

Do you have FTP access to your site?
If so, you just need to rename/delete the password-proetcted plugin folder to deactivate it.

THANK YOU!!!! While I wasn’t able to delete the Password-Protected folder , I was able to rename it and the blog is functional again! VERY thankful for your help!

I would still like to put a password on the entire blog. I’m not sure why the problem occurred in the first place, perhaps the version of WordPress I have is too old – I have not updated to 3.8.1 (fearing an update will somehow disable the blog and I won’t know how to fix it).

Again, I sincerely appreciate your help. Thank you!!!
