There is one circumstance in which “paged” pages do *not* change: monthly archives, once the month is over. For instance, I have two pages worth of posts for August 2003, and those are never going to change (barring typo corrections, extra comments, etc.)

    I notice that the url
    http://photomatt.net/2004/page/3/
does work so you ‘should’ be able to have clean urls, but the content changes.
One thing I would like to see is reverse numbering for posts pages nav
That is post id 1 appears on page one and the current posts appear on the last page.
The current method has the current posts on page one and post one on the last page.
This would then mean that any given page would have the same content over time provide you don’t edit play with posts.
And Google would love the clean urls on a paged view.

in your rewrite rule, add another term: &order=asc
that should order your posts in ascending order so that page 1 of your pagination will begin with your first post.

Thanks – but I think there’s some trouble with the .htaccess file in the current version of WP 1.3, so I can’t test it – or maybe it’s my server, but the site wont show with a .htaccess file in the root.
