try Events > Settings > Pages > Event List/Archives > Default event list ordering
Thanks for the reply.
Default event list ordering is “Order by start date, start time, then event name”, all ascending. The event list looks right to me – it’s just the next/previous buttons that don’t seem to do what I expect.
Any other suggestions?
Thanks again.
ah, okay! you mean the prev/next button of wp which because you set events as post as events > settings > pages > event pages > Display events as – you can change it’s order at events > settings > pages > events list/archives > Default event archive ordering
Thanks for your reply.
Yes, I have Events set to Pages.
You’re right that I’m referring to the Next/Previous button in WordPress – apologies if that wasn’t clear.
Unfortunately, the event archive ordering is set to “Order by start date, start time” – which isn’t what it’s doing. I’ve a feeling it’s ordering by name.
Am I missing something?
Hiya,
Can you tell me what you have selected for the “Event archives scope” setting in Events > Settings > Pages > Event List/Archives please?
Also, can you provide a link to your site where we can see this for ourselves?
Thanks,
Phil
Event Archives Scope is set to Past Events.
I’ve just changed the output type back to Pages so you can see for yourself at the following link:

Note that if you click Previous event from this one (September 8th) you get one on October 6th. Might this be a date format issue, perhaps?
That’s because the navigation you see there browses through events by publication date, not event date.
are you sure you’re showing as pages? I tried twentyten and chose pages, the navigation isn’t used there
Okay, that makes sense.
Yeah, I’m definitely showing as Pages…
Is there a workaround, or am I better off just showing as posts?
does it not show navigation if you’re choosing to show as posts?
it should be the other way around.
It doesn’t show navigation when I set to Posts, no.
I wonder what I’ve done…
Does the navigation show & work correctly with normal blog posts?
hi,
okay, upon testing I get this too and will confirm this to @marcus
actually, Angelo’s comment referred to the fact that next/previous links weren’t chronological to event dates but instead publication dates.
we’ll look into this but it’s not a bug, rather the way WP works. it probably won’t be in an immediate update
we don’t experience the problem of these links showing up when showing events as pages.
