Hi all,
I upgraded to the newest version of NextGenGallery. Although I clicked sorting by filename under options, the thumbnails are sorted - as it seems - randomly.
Was the sorting algorithm changed with the new version?
Or was there a new sorting column included into the database?

Hi,
just started using NextGen 1.9.10 in WP 3.5
Sorting by filename desc seems not to work.

Seems there is a general problem sorting the images of a gallery?
To the developers: Has the algorithm been changed?

HELLO is there anyone out there who can contact the developers.
It is a basic function in any gallery image display database that you can sort the photographs by a variety of options.
This is a serious flaw and is making me look for other options.
Alternatly as anyone any idea how to reinstall a previous version and where to get the file from.
Very Very frustrating
You can see from the photographs the last ones added are still at the end of the list.

@Granddadscott you can install older version over current version via FTP or cPanel.
Goto :
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/nextgen-gallery/developers/
Select the version you had working previously and just run over the current version you have installed.

I have tried to download and then upload to my WordPress site and then add new Plugin but it fails saying
Destination folder already exists. /hermes/bosweb/web034/b349/ipg.brianscottcouk/couksite/wp-content/plugins/nextgen-gallery/
Not sure how to proceed
don't want to risk deleting any folders in case I loose all the settings I have set up.
Any help would be appreciated.

Ignore that last post If I had read the full email I would have seen to use the FTP.
Just done that and installed 1.9.0 and still not sorting will try an earlier version.

Well I have reverted to version 1.8.0 and still won't sort maybe its some effect of some other part of WordPress. ??????

To the developers: For me, it would be very helpful to know, whether the database tables have been changed and how, or whether it is "only" a change in the program code (php).

Hey everyone,
Would you all mind downloading and installing our most recent beta (found here) and let us know if the image sorting works better for you?
Some other things to try:
- try deactivating all plugins except NextGEN Gallery > clear browser cache and reload your site and try again.
- disable all browser plugins/extensions > clear cache and refresh your site and try again
- switch to WP Default theme and try once more.
- try a different browser (i.e. Chrome) and see if it works better.

I have just installed the beta version and it seems to be sorting by file name ascending and descending OK.
Will check it out with a new image file uploaded and see if it will place it in the correct order.

Just added a new image file and then sorted them using file name and it work correctly.
It must have been the Nextgen files causing the problem as I have not changed anything else but installed the beta version.

Just as feedback:
I also had the problem that image sorting no longer worked propperly after updating to NextGen 1.9.10. Sorting was done by ID. No option to change.
After reading this thread and updating to NextGen 1.9.11 Beta the sorting on filename is working again.
