Same issue as others have had but can't find the solution to it on my theme. "Missing the call to wp_head() in your theme, contact the theme author". The theme is Crumble Magazine from Themeforest. The wp call is both in the head and footer already. When I try to embed an image, especially as a featured image. The gallery works but using any of the Nextgen gallery images on other parts of the theme (slideshows, carousel, featured image) don't show and in some cases when the image URL is called directly, the setting won't keep. I've tried disabling all other plugins and modifying the theme code (re-adding wp calls), reinstalled the theme, etc.

    Any ideas or solutions?

BTW, I contacted the author and they referred me back to this forum.

The theme probably isn't missing a call to wp_head(). There is a "bug" of sorts in the check plugin code to that will cause it to fail just about every time. No worries. And don't try adding extra calls to wp_head.

    That probably isn't your problem.

How exactly are you trying to use the images on the other parts of the theme?

I couldn't tell how the images were selected for the carousel and other widgets.

Is it similar to the post featured image box where you can select from the Media Library or NextGen?

Or, do you have to paste links to images? If this is the case, are you putting in an actual URL

    http://mysite.com/wp-content/gallery/myimages.jpg

    Or a shortcode?

I noticed your theme integrates the prettyphoto, a lightbox, as well. I'm not sure if you can disable it, but it may cause some problems on your NextGen galleries as they integrate a separate lightbox by default.

If that does end up being a problem:

You might be able to disable your theme's lightbox functionality, or you can to into Gallery->Options to the "Effects" tab and select none in the dropdown to disable NextGen's.

Thanks so much for looking at the problem smigliorato. Actually the frontpage slider uses the featured image as the source...also the carousel acts in the same way, thus the method is how you first described by selecting from Media Library or NextGen.

I couldn't see how to disable the prettyphoto effect in the theme but I did disable it in NextGen and it still isn't populating the images properly.

Let me clarify though, the NextGen galllery itself works when embeded on a page, it's just that call to use the images in a widget or featured image where it fails to generate a picture.

I have the site underconstruction and it is mostly filled with demo content but you can see the missing images and the problem at http://www.perfectbodymagazine.com.

Again, thank you for your assistance.

I may have some bad news.

I was messing around with the basic twenty-eleven theme and featured images.

I made two blog posts. I had images in both the Media Library and NextGen Gallery.

I added a featured image via NextGen Gallery on one page, and a featured image via the Media Library on the other.

Needless to say, only the featured imaged added from the Media Library worked.

I am delving into the code to find out why and see if I can't attempt a fix.

For now, you might just put the images that you want to use with those widgets in the media library.

Thanks smigliorato. I kind of figured the same thing. In a last ditch effort, just to make sure all was working properly with the theme, I too added them from the Media Gallery. I was just hoping not to have to duplicate images on the server. This site is destined to become graphic intensive and eventual duplication of images, just adds to the resource overhead on the server. I'm just picky though and will take your advice on adding them to the widgets through the media gallery.

Anyway, thanks again for looking into it and if you happen to come up with anything, I'd be very grateful to know.

    Hey all,

Just wanted to let you know we're aware of the issues with Featured Image functionality and are planning to include a fix for this in v2.0. For now, as @smigliorato mentioned, setting the featured image through WP Media should work until v2.0 becomes available.

Wel it is not fixed. Now there is a conflict with SEO Facebook Comments.

This is one of the plugins thats used very much on my websites. And before the update to 1.9.7 there where no problems.
