NextGen not auto uploading with W3TC CDN (17 posts)

I'm currently running my site with W3TC and Rackspace CDN.
As of right now, to get NextGen Gallery to feed from my CDN I need to create the gallery, then manually upload the pictures and thumbs to my CDN site. Unlike normal WordPress media, the CDN doesn't grab the new galleries automatically.

I know the CDN portion of W3TC can do a one-time upload of custom files, but having to do that after every gallery creation is a little silly. Is there a way around this?

Currently the folder the gallery uses is wp-content/gallery.

Can anyone help me with this issue?

Also, I made sure that the wp-content/gallery/* was added into the custom files list but still no go.

I had a similar issue. This thread describes how I solved it.

Thanks for responding Roblan, I actually ran across your thread a few days ago but after reading it, I'm not sure if your fix will help me out.

I can get the custom files to upload if I click on the custom file button, the problem I have is allowing W3TC auto uploading any new files.

Since I already have about 100 galleries in my wp-content/gallery location, having to upload them all over again with each new gallery wouldn't be a viable option.

When using your solution, does your custom file list auto upload?

Yes, subsequent to the described re-do, newly uploaded images auto-upload to cdn.

    Unfortunately it didn't work robnal.
Reuploaded the custom files but after adding a new gallery and waiting a few minutes for the auto upload to kick in, it doesn't appear to be working.

I do appreciate you taking the time to help me out though.
    Any other ideas?

Are non-gallery images automatically served from your cdn?

Yes, but I suppose that's because W3TC automatically uploads any media attached to a post (since the hosted attachments option is checked).

Granted I'm doing a few things different since I'm not running a multisite.

I'm just using the wp-content/gallery/ path and not inserting my blog idea. As I said before, it's able to pick up the files when I click the upload custom files button, but it doesn't do it automatically.

The site is mmomfg.com, you can see the files are being served from my Rackspace, just not Next-Gen Gallery files (unless I manually put them up there which is a real PITA).

Hmmmm...I don't know, but I may have to upload custom files (like thumbnails) manually too. It's been a while since I've added any images to the galleries.

I'm on the lookout for a better gallery plugin. I like the functionality of Nextgen, but its code is all over every page of my sites (including pages without any gallery or images) and it slows my page load time.

Ya, if the default gallery wasn't crap I'd just stick with that as the CDN picks it up with no problem.

Maybe if Frederick can pop in and offer some help, we could close this case.

I use the Headway theme, which has had its own gallery for some time now. Someday, when I've got some time, I'll set up a test using the Headway gallery, but even if it performs well, changing galleries is a major project.

I can't really think it's the galleries' fault though ya know?
Maybe I'm just missing something with the w3tc auto upload. Let me know if you come across anything that might help our little adventure :)

I'm not sure why this wouldn't be working. Feel free to submit a bug submission form from the support tab of the plugin.

    Hey!

Did anybody solve the problems? I got exactly the same ones.

    1. W3TC doesn't auto-upload the files to cdn.
    2. Changes of interval-settings weren't respected (it seems so)
    3. If interval is default, ALL media will be overwritten / retransfered, no matter if it has been changed or not.

Please help me. Neweset WP, newest W3TC

    Thanks.

Hey Roliat, no go as of yet though Frederick has been looking at my site.
I think there was a miscommunication so I explained it again.

Basically we're having the same issues, mine just happens to be with gallery stuff, but I don't believe any files within the custom list are automatically detected and uploaded on the fly like images are within a wordpress post (media attachments).

Has this since been resolved through the bug submission process? If not, feel free to submit another ticket.
