NextGen Gallery v1.7.3 crashed my Edit Page

Hi there,

I installed NextGen 1.7.3 thinking it would work with WP 3.1.2 but once i got the slideshow working – it then crashed the view/toolbar in the Edit Page – so I deactivated it – it then let me upgrade it, so I did this hoping it might clear itself and then after the upgrade, it told me I couldn’t reactivate it because my PHP is version 5.1.6….so back to square one? Can’t update my software as owned by Host.

What should I do next?
