NextGen Gallery Update database update giving Error500 (7 posts)

I recently upgraded to WP 3.0.1, and have implemented a StudioPress Genesis Theme. I had used the NextGen Gallery plugin, and realised that it was offering an update.

I applied the update, and then returned to the admin page, where it prompted me to upgrade the Database. I followed the automatic upgrade option, and then reloaded the pluggin page only to be greated by an Error500 page, and a simillar error for any and all the pages I tried to access either in the admin or the actual website.

I then quarantined the plugin folder by renaming and creating a new empty plug ins folder, which has given me access back to the admin side, and the website is now viewable.

However I still get Error500 pages when I try to reactivate plugins in the new plugins folder and also on the edit post page.

I have tried to restore the database from a back up I took last night, however I still get the same issues with the same Error500.

I have googled the obvious as well as the support forums, and see nothing that I can do. I have also tried to track down my SQL log files, but I don't know where they live.

    Hosted on 1and1 with MySQL5.

    Any thoughts? Please?

    Thanks in advance.
    Pete.

With 500 errors, 99% of the time its related to file/directory permissions...

It's weird as I loose various options on different pages - for instance there is no button on the bottom of the Export page to enable me to export the pages and posts into a new installation....

Any idea or default permissions that I can apply to try and get things back together?

Thanks for that webjunk - I really should have googled it myself. I'll have a look through and see if there have been any changes.

There don't appear to be any bad permissions, so I'm stumped.

Reinstalling WP, then the themes appears to have resolved the issue.

    Thanks for all the help.
