    NextGEN Gallery thumbnails cut-off/squished/squashed in IE8

    I just received this support question via email, and thought I'd post my reply here in case it can help anyone with similar issues...

    I've actually come across this problem before in my own browser testing...it's a css styling issue present in some themes. For example, I've found it occurs in IE8 exclusively when using the Twenty Eleven theme. It is caused when images inside the post content div are styled with a "max-width" attribute and given a percentage value. My guess would be that IE8 has a problem with percentage max-widths for images when no explicit width is set.

    I've just been testing your source code and can confirm this is indeed the issue. To fix, one minor css edit will be required in /wp-content/themes/origami/style.css...

    Please replace this...

    .content img {
    height: auto;
    max-width: 100%;
    }

    With this...

    .content img {
    height: auto;
    }

    Since the div/selector names will vary from theme to theme, the example above is for guidance only. I would recommend opening your own theme's main stylesheet (usually at /wp-content/themes/your_theme/style.css) in a text editor, and using the "Find" tool, search through all instances of "max-width". You can then either delete (or add width: auto; to) any instances related to post images.

    Hope this helps!

    Cheers,
    Mark.

    @ DoubleSixx...

    This issue only affects some themes, and would be better solved by implementing a fix directly in the main stylesheet - as this affects other post images too (not just NextGEN thumbnails).

    PS. I mentioned it occurred in Twenty Eleven, but this appears to have been addressed as of version 1.3/1.4.

    @ bwoff...

    No worries! I'm glad I could help :)

    All the best with your site!

    Cheers,
    Mark.
