NextGen Gallery-Extension to make the add image interface useful? (4 posts)

I like the gallery a great deal, however, the part where you insert images into articles is absolutely useless. Instead of something useful like the description field or even a preview of the image itself, all that it shows is a list of filenames and extensions. While I can work my way around this OK, most of my users *can't*.

Is there some kind of addon or mod or something? I remember a Joomla gallery component a couple of years ago that, when inserting an image, brought up a window that showed the gallery directory structure by category, a preview of the image you selected, and the ability to upload straight from that interface into an appropriate category. Is something like that available to extend NextGen?

    Thanks!

Have you seen the NextGEN gallery tab inside the "Add media/Upload" windows ?

Yeah, I finally discovered that a couple of days ago, thanks :). While that option is functional, and thank you for pointing it out, I feel that it would be far more intuitive to integrate the preview function directly into the NextGen Insert button itself rather than having the drop down list of file names. IMHO, file names are just not an intuitive way to deal with images on a website.

All in all though, I LOVE Gallery, it really does a great job.
