Nextgen gallery doesn't load and freezes my computer

I just installed Nextgen Gallery 1.9.13 and tried posting a gallery for the first time using the shortcode.
While the rest of the page loads, the gallery itself just freezes while loading and takes the whole page with it. All I can do is close out and reopen it.
