  • Hi

I have just installed WP 2.5 for my new blog.
In here i would like a gallery so I installed the Nextgen..

But now i am having some problems with it. When i try to add a new gallery it makes the folder wp-content/gallery/xxx fine, but the wp-content/gallery/xxx/thumbs is not created, and i get the message Unable to create directory wp-content/gallery/xxx/thumbs

When i make the folders manually it will accept the gallery, but Im not able to upload images from the web interface..

I have chmod 777 on all my folders in the wp-content folder, and I have passed the safe mode by setting the FALSE settings in nggallery.php (as described in another post)

Im missing something, but what?? Any Ideas?

    Thanks

  • I have the exact same problem and have been unable to find a solution. I too am running 2.5 and have modified nggallery with safe mode = false, and have set permissions to 777 on the gallery folders.

    # Operating System : Linux
    # Server : Apache/1.3.41 (Unix) FrontPage/5.0.2.2635 mod_psoft_traffic/0.2 mod_ssl/2.8.31 OpenSSL/0.9.8b mod_throttle/3.1.2
    # Memory usage : 17.07 MByte
    # MYSQL Version : 5.0.51
    # SQL Mode : Not set
    # PHP Version : 5.2.5
    # PHP Safe Mode : On
    # PHP Allow URL fopen : On
    # PHP Memory Limit : 48M
    # PHP Max Upload Size : 100M
    # PHP Max Post Size : 100M

I also ran the 1&1 test script from this post:
    http://alexrabe.boelinger.com/2008/03/21/11-3/
(I’m not using 1&1 for hosting), and it completed successfully – indicating it is not a memory error.

I also tried modifying the .htaccess file to include the following:

    AddType x-mapp-php5 .php
    AddHandler x-mapp-php5 .php

which didn’t work either (probably since I’m already using PHP 5.2.5, but I’m just randomly trying things at this point).

    Can anyone help us?

    Still nothing?

Hello, I’m having a similar problem. Before I upgraded to WordPress 2.5, this was working fine. However, after upgrading, when I try to add images to existing galleries via “Scan Folder for new images” it takes me to a “Create new thumbnails” screen and the progress bar stalls at 0%. Anyone have a solution for this? I’m running both the latest version of WordPress and NextGen Gallery. All my gallery folders under wp-content are set CHMOD 777 as well.

I just upgraded to NextGen Gallery 0.93 and I still have been unable to generate a single thumbnail or upload an image. I’m creating the gallery folders manually with 777 permissions, and still nothing. I’ve also tried adding a php.ini file with safe_mode = Off, but that hasn’t helped either.

(Error : Create Image failed. Check safe mode settings)

I have the same problem. I have tested the “test” script from this page and the script can create the files and there is no memory problem.

PHP 4.4.1, Apache server with 64M PHP Memory Limit.

    Arrggghhhh.

ZenPhoto wrks like a charm on the same host, no issues at all. And I have a few thousand images.

With NextGEN I am not able to generate a single thumbnail…

    Any suggestions?

What for a resolution have your images ?
Please note that WordPress itself require 9-10 MB already

I just added my 172nd gallery with no problems. I subsequently decided to add images to the 12th gallery, and got the error

11.jpg (Error : Create Image failed. Check safe mode settings)
12.jpg (Error : Create Image failed. Check safe mode settings)
13.jpg (Error : Create Image failed. Check safe mode settings)
14.jpg (Error : Create Image failed. Check safe mode settings)

I’ve never had a problem like this before.

Oh, yes, Safe Mode is Off, and the folder is CHMODed correctly.
