• I made a fresh install of Nextgen 2.0.57 on a web site running WP 3.8.1 and BuddyPress 1.9.1. The activation of Nextgen ( and only that, without any settings or gallery creation) broke the rewriting rules by BuddyPress. Deactivaton of Nextgen reverse to a “normal” situation. After reading the Changelog, I decided to install Nextegn 2.0.7. (the one for which it is said that this issue was solved). And it works fine. So I decided to install Nextegn 2.0.40. Still fine.
So it seems that the pb. solved in 2.0.7 is back in 2.0.57.
Any idea on what to do ?

@jyd44 – BuddyPress appears to be at version 1.9.2 … does the issue still persist with the latest versions of the plugins installed?

I’ve made a full fresh install. My support env. is Xampp version 1.7.7, which is very close to the one of my hosting company (same PHP version 5.3.8, same mysql version 5.5.16).
    I did install WP 3.8.1, BuddyPress 1.9.2, bbPress 2.5.3.
WP permalink settings: Numeric, as http://localhost/wordpress381/archives/123
Optional Components activated in BuddyPress: Extended Profiles, Account Settings, activity Streams, Notifications, User Groups. Settings left as by default.
bbPress: default settings plus groups forum enabling.
Creation of one user (user1) as an author,
    Creation of one forum (forum1),
Creation of one group public (group1) by administrator, plus one member (user1). Attachment to forum1.
Creation of one topic (topic1) in the forum1,
Installation of Nextgen Gallery 2.0.58 (unfortunately, the version change today !). Do not activate.
    Disconnect.
Go to the homepage, click on the “groups” link => OK
    Connect with admin account,
    activate NextGen,
    disconnect
    go to homepage,
click on “Groups” (http://localhost/wordpress381/groups). => http status code 301, Moved permanently, with http://localhost/wordpress381/groups into the location header.

    And so, issue still there.

@jyd44 – Unfortunately local test environments can be very difficult for us to help troubleshoot but reading through your description:

Creation of one topic (topic1) in the forum1,
Installation of Nextgen Gallery 2.0.58 (unfortunately, the version change today !). Do not activate.
    Disconnect.
Go to the homepage, click on the “groups” link => OK

That reads you had the “Disconnect” issue before NextGEN was even activated for the first time … simply installing a plugin will not do anything on a site, it needs to be activated (definitely in the case of NextGEN Gallery) before it would make any “changes” to a site.

Am I reading the above correctly?

Disconnect was not an issue, it was a voluntary action. I just wanted to say: as you are logged to perform the installation, activation and settings, please disconnect before performing the test. The disconnection, and more stop your browser and relaunch it, is just a precaution to ensure that the test is performed in a well known state, not potentially influenced by any connection or past events (cookies or cache).
To be very short: before the activation of Nextgen, the forum was working fine and after it’s activation, the forum links was broken with an endless redirection to the same url.
You have a full description of every step I made to show the issue.

@jyd44 – OK, that is not how I was reading your description … it’s still not very clear on the steps you are using especially since I am not familiar with either BuddyPress or bbPress (I haven’t even installed them in at least a couple of years).

Do you see the same thing if you do all of this on a remote server as well?

    Sorry for the delay.
I’ve put in place two web sites: They have been installed following exactly the same steps (as described before). One is with Nextgen Activated (http://albrevin.org/wp381_with/) the other one without Nextgen activated (http://albrevin.org/wp381_without/).
Just klick on the Groups menu item on top of the page, and see what happens.

    The version installed:
    WP 3.8.1
    BuddyPress 1.9.2
    bbPress: 2.5.3
    Nextgen Gallery: 2.0.58
    PHP: 5.4.24
(you can access to phpinfo on http://albrevin.org/phpinfo.php

@jyd44 – Thanks for the “live” sites showing this issue, it makes more sense now that I can see the problem.

I do not know why this would be the case but I will write this up for our developers to review.

Would it be possible for you to send us a Bug Report (http://www.nextgen-gallery.com/report-bug/ … please reference this topic) with appropriate log in credentials for http://albrevin.org/wp381_with/ … just in case we, for whatever reason, are not able to recreate this ourselves?

    Thanks!

    – Cais.

Latest nextgen rewrite rules are certainly breaking buddypress with the latest update.. I have submitted a bug report for the same issue.. Not sure if I should downgrade or what..

I had to roll back to version 2.0.40 to fix this. Please let me know when it is fixed, and I will upgrade.

    Thanks

Ahhhhhhh, Unfortunately version 2.0.40 goes back to another screwed up thing, that was fixed after. The TinyMC visual tab in bbpress broken again.. When can we expect a fix to the latest version?

@jslom – We are aware of the issues with BuddyPress but do not currently have a working solution to offer. The best place to follow along with what will be coming out in future release is this page: http://www.nextgen-gallery.com/nextgen-gallery-latest-beta/

    Thanks!
