On my main page when I use the navigation at the end of the entries to go back entries I get a 404 page not found error (http://www.suburbanette.net/page/2/)
The next page navigation for the archives and catagories workes ok.
I saw a support post about this issue but there wasn't a resolution to it.

Hope it's okay to bump this, I really need an answer to this.
Out of curiosity, does the same thing happen if you change to the "Default" theme?

Nope, still have the issue.
My entries were exported from MovableType and imported to WordPress, that wouldn't cause it to do this would it?
While I'd like to blame that import... no, I don't think that would be the cause.
Try rebuilding your Permalinks(Options -> Permalinks). Just go there, and hit save.
What's a bit odd is that you're not using "pretty permalinks", but the url that your blog serves up for the next page IS a pretty permalink format.

Any resolution to this issue? I have the exact same problem, but mine works with default.

Same problem for me: http://blog.purepistos.net
Though I notice that the clickable link is http://blog.purepistos.net/index.php/page/2/ which has the index.php/ stripped when I actually view the 404.
I have a permalink structure of
/index.php/%year%/%monthnum%/%day%/%postname%/
And I have the Permalink Redirect plugin installed and activated. Deactivating this plugin didn't help.
