[nexgen gallery] show description in gallery overview

In the album view (extended) it shows the gallery description as well as it’s thumbnail. I’m trying to keep the description when inside the gallery. Pasted the code <?php echo $gallery->galdesc ?> I copied from the album.php into the gallery.php but doesn’t seem to work. Not a coder obviously. What do I miss here to make this work? Thanks.
