I have been searching around on the internet for a while now for a newsletter plugin that enables you to send a custom email from the admin area.
I have noticed there are many plugins that send emails when there are new posts, or when a certain about of posts have been sent etc, however I was wondering if anyone knew of a newsletter plugin that simply uses the list of people who have registered and I can send them a quick email (possibly with tags such as <firstname> etc).

EDIT: btw, i am happily using (and contributing to) Subscribe2 as a basic newsletter plugin. it handles html format nicely, integrated with the WP user system in a clever way and can do per-post or some dayly/weekly/monthly digest.

I'm also interested in this. I've installed Subscribe2, but from what I see there's no possibility to turn off automatic emails for new posts. What I want is really just the possibility to send mails to all subscribed readers of my post. Somehow there also seems to be something broken with Subscribe2: I'm not able to actually unsubscribe people from the newsletter ...
Any ideas?
